A Holding Pattern

A Holding Pattern is a one-page tool for situations that are ongoing but constrained. It gives active, unresolved matters a place to live without forcing urgency, decisions, or resolution.

Use it to:

• name what’s currently in motion
• acknowledge what cannot move yet
• allow small, optional movement
• explicitly set aside decisions not required today
• define what will release the holding pattern (event-based, not dates)

Not stalled.
Not urgent.
Just held.
